Fifth Empire Company

We are currently forming a network of people interested in the idea of transporting and promoting their work by sail. All eligible applicants will be listed on our page of collaborators, and we will try to feature as many as possible on our blog.

This network, as well as hopefully bringing attention to your work, will ultimately help us to secure a grant for the ship - a fairly essential asset for a sail cargo cooperative! The ship - our ship, for it will be as much yours as it is anybody's - will have the means and capacity to transport your products, your stories, your music, your message (and a few of you in person) by sail, to a 'local' audience anywhere in the world. We hope to be able to buy your goods at a fair price and take them on a journey to the 'Fifth Empire' and back, helping to spread awareness of alternatives to mass transport and mass production. For more information about the purpose of this project and what we set out to accomplish, please see the ABOUT page.

Our definition of 'artist or artisan' is intentionally fairly broad. If your work, products or even your hobby falls into any of the following categories, you are eligible to join our network. Doesn't matter if you are a full time professional or a dabbler, all are welcome - although a certain degree of competency is expected.

Domain A: Cultural and Natural Heritage

E.g. Pieces of zoological, botanical, mineralogical, anatomical, historical, archaeological, paleontological, ethnographic or numismatic interest; antiques, etc.

Domain B: Performance and Celebration

E.g. Music, musical instruments, dance, theatre, etc.

Domain C: Visual Arts and Crafts

E.g. Diverse artistic goods such as engravings, sculptures, paintings; crafts such as jewellery, textiles, ceramics, etc.

Domain D: Books and Press

E.g. Printed books, newspapers, periodicals and magazines.

Domain E: Audiovisual and Interactive Media

E.g. Cinematographic films.

Domain F: Design and Creative Services

Domain G: Comestibles

* If what you do doesn't seem to fit into any of the categories, do feel free to send a message anyway and we'll be happy to find a place for you. *

In order to be eligible, your work ought also to align with or have some relevance to one or more of our 'Fifth Empire' ideals. These are briefly summed up below, but for greater depth please visit ABOUT.
